Why Tirada
- Tirada charges for the emails you send and Ghost(Pro) for how many members you have, free ones included. With 10,000 and one send a week, Publisher costs $105 (≈ €97) a month; Tirada Lite is €13.66, and Pro, with a person handling your incidents, €33.66.
- The gap grows with your list: with 50,000 members, Ghost(Pro) charges $249 (≈ €229) a month and Tirada Lite €48.30, sending every week.
- An official MCP on every plan, and an agent never confirms a send: a person does that in the dashboard. Ghost has no official MCP, and the community ones use the Admin API with full access, so the agent can send to your whole list.
- API, webhooks and a sending domain from the €5 plan. On Ghost(Pro) all three start on Publisher, which costs $35 (≈ €32) a month for 1,000 members.
Pricing, in numbers
Ghost(Pro) charges by members and counts free ones the same as paid ones. Sends are unlimited, so how often you send doesn't change the price. Starter only goes up to 1,000 members and can't charge readers: a paid newsletter needs Publisher at any list size. Tirada charges the plan fee and the emails you send. With one send a week, billed monthly:
| Subscribers | Ghost, free newsletter | Ghost, with 5% paying | Tirada Lite | Tirada Pro |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1,000 | $18 (≈ €17) | $35 (≈ €32) | €5.87 | €25.87 |
| 10,000 | $105 (≈ €97) | $105 (≈ €97) | €13.66 | €33.66 |
| 50,000 | $249 (≈ €229) | $249 (≈ €229) | €48.30 | €68.30 |
| 100,000 | $329 (≈ €303) | $329 (≈ €303) | €91.60 | €111.60 |
Monthly price with one send a week (4.33 emails per subscriber). "With 5% paying": one in twenty subscribers pays you €5 a month, and what the platform keeps from those payments is added. Ghost: prices as published on 20 October 2026; dollars at €0.92. Tirada: plan plus €2 per 10,000 emails, excluding VAT, and 0% commission. The payment processor's fee (Stripe) applies on both and isn't included. Your own domain on Tirada, €2 more a month, isn't included.
The more you send, the closer they get: Ghost(Pro) costs the same with one send a month as with one a day, while on Tirada every 10,000 emails add €2. Ghost(Pro) goes up in member tiers and, above 100,000, moves to a custom quote. If you'd rather install Ghost on your own server, the software is free and you pay for the server and Mailgun, the only bulk-email provider it supports.
Your AI and your agents
Ghost has no official MCP server: there's none in its developer docs, its 2025 and 2026 changelog or its GitHub. It has no AI writing assistant either. What it does offer, since July 2026, is llms.txt and Markdown versions of your public posts for AI search engines.
It does have a full Admin API, from Publisher up, and webhooks. With it, one call publishes a post and sends it by email: if you don't say who to, it goes to all your members, and there's no confirmation step in the dashboard. Community MCP servers such as ghost-mcp run with full access to that API, so the agent you connect them to can publish and send to your whole list.
On Tirada the MCP comes with every plan, Lite included. Your assistant gets nine diagnostic tools (why an email didn't arrive, what your domain is missing, why a send was paused, what happened in an import) plus the API operations you approve, such as preparing a draft or getting a send ready. It can't confirm it: a person confirms every send in the dashboard. Your readers' emails reach it masked, it reads at most 5,000 subscriber records a day, and you can revoke each connection from the dashboard. How to connect it.
When Ghost is the better choice
If you want your publication to depend on no provider at all, Ghost is open source (MIT licence) and you can run it on your own server. As a website it does more than Tirada: custom themes, pages, tags, search and threaded comments. Since June 2026 it has multi-step welcome sequences (in beta), where Tirada has a single welcome email. For growth, Ghost has recommendations, Ghost Explore and ActivityPub distribution to Bluesky, Threads or Mastodon; Tirada has no discovery network.
And if you send several times a week to a mid-sized list, Ghost(Pro)'s unlimited sending narrows the price gap. Ghost is run by a non-profit foundation, and its team helps you migrate for free.
How to move from Ghost
- On Ghost, export your members as a CSV (it includes their subscription status). Export your content too, to keep a copy: Tirada imports subscribers, not the post archive.
- On Tirada, import the members CSV. You get a report of who got in and why each of the rest didn't.
- Connect your domain to send and publish from it (€2 a month) and your Stripe account to get paid.
- If you have paid members, their subscriptions live in your Stripe account, but Tirada doesn't take over existing subscriptions: your paying readers subscribe again on your Tirada page. Tell them first, and cancel their Ghost subscriptions once they've moved, so nobody pays twice.
Questions
How much does Ghost(Pro) cost with 10,000 members?
$105 (≈ €97) a month on the Publisher plan, billed monthly, and free members count the same as paid ones. On Tirada, with one send a week to 10,000 subscribers, you pay €13.66 on Lite or €33.66 on Pro.
Does Ghost have an MCP server?
It has no official MCP server. There are community servers that use the Admin API, which lets an agent publish a post and send it to your whole list. On Tirada the official MCP comes with every plan and a person confirms every send in the dashboard.
Does Ghost take a commission on paid subscriptions?
No. Ghost(Pro) keeps 0% from the Publisher plan up, as Tirada does: on both you only pay Stripe's fee. The difference is the plan fee: Ghost(Pro) charges by members and Tirada by emails sent.
Which is cheaper, Ghost or Tirada?
With one send a week, Tirada, at every size in the table: with 10,000 members, €13.66 a month on Tirada Lite against $105 (≈ €97) on Ghost(Pro) Publisher. If you send many times a week the gap narrows, because Ghost(Pro) doesn't charge per send.
