Tirada vs Substack

Substack pricing as published on 17 October 2026

Substack charges nothing to send and keeps 10% of what your readers pay you. Tirada works the other way round. It charges a small plan and the emails you send, and takes nothing from your revenue.

What you pay on each

On Substack, sending is free and the bill grows with your revenue: 10% of every paid subscription. On Tirada you pay a plan of €5, €15 or €25 a month (Lite, Basic or Pro) and packs of 10,000 emails at €2, bought before you send. Your readers' money goes to your own Stripe account, and you only pay Stripe's fee.

In numbers

With 10,000 subscribers and one send a week you send about 43,300 emails a month. On Tirada that costs between €13.66 (Lite) and €33.66 (Pro), whatever you earn. On Substack it depends on how many readers pay you:

Tirada: plan fee plus 43,300 emails at €2 per 10,000, excluding VAT. Substack: 10% of subscription revenue, as published on 17 October 2026.

With 500 paying readers, Tirada's most expensive plan leaves you about €216 a month more than Substack, close to €2,600 a year. Try your own figures in the calculator on the home page.

When Substack is cheaper

If your newsletter is free and you don't plan to charge, Substack costs you nothing, while Tirada still charges its plan and emails: with 1,000 subscribers and a weekly send, Tirada Lite is about €5.87 a month. Tirada pays off once 10% of your revenue is more than your plan. With 10,000 subscribers and a weekly send, that happens from about €137 a month in revenue on Lite (28 readers at €5) or €337 on Pro (68 readers).

Everything else

  • You bring your subscribers from Substack, with a report of what got in and what didn't.
  • You send and publish from your own domain for €2 more a month.
  • You export subscribers, writing and data whenever you want. No lock-in.
  • Servers are in Finland and email goes out from Sweden, inside the European Union.
